Target Price Calculator Guide

The Formula We Use

  • Cost = Buy Price × Quantity
  • Turnover = (Buy Price + Target Sell) × Quantity
  • Fees = (Fees% ÷ 100 × Turnover) + Flat Fees
  • Net Profit = (Target Sell − Buy Price) × Quantity − Fees
  • If your goal is a profit % on cost:
    T = (Target % ÷ 100) × Cost
    Target Sell = [ T ÷ Quantity + Buy × (1 + p) + Flat ÷ Quantity ] ÷ (1 − p)
    where p = Fees% ÷ 100
  • If your goal is a profit amount:
    Target Sell = [ Target $ ÷ Quantity + Buy × (1 + p) + Flat ÷ Quantity ] ÷ (1 − p)
  • Break-even Sell (T = 0):
    Break-even = [ Buy × (1 + p) + Flat ÷ Quantity ] ÷ (1 − p)
  • Example Calculation (USD)

    Buy $150.00
    Qty 100
    Fees 0.20% + $10.00
    Target Profit 15%
    • Cost = 150 × 100 = $15,000.00
    • T = 15% × 15,000 = $2,250.00
    • Target Sell = [ 2,250 ÷ 100 + 150 × (1 + 0.002) + 10 ÷ 100 ] ÷ (1 − 0.002)$173.25
    • Break-even ≈ $150.45
    • At $173.25, net profit ≈ $2,250 after fees.

    Target-Setting Tips

    • Include slippage/spread: set targets a bit beyond chart levels.
    • Use structure: align targets with support/resistance or ATR.
    • Risk-reward: prefer R:R ≥ 2:1 after fees.
    • Mind fees: higher fees push the required target up.
    • Review: track fills vs target to refine your cushion.
