Multi Trade Profit Calculator Guide
The Formulas We Use (Average-Cost method)
-
For each leg
i
, withpriceᵢ
,qtyᵢ
, and side (Buy/Sell) -
Total Buys B = Σ(price × qty) for Buy legs
Total Sells S = Σ(price × qty) for Sell legs
Qty Bought Qb = Σ(qty) on Buys
Qty Sold Qs = Σ(qty) on Sells
Open Qty Qo = max(0, Qb − Qs)
-
Average Cost (AVC) = B ÷ Qb
-
Realized P/L (on closed qty Qs):
Gross Realized = S − (AVC × Qs)
-
Fees (percent on turnover + flat per order):
Turnover = B + S
Fees% p = (Fees% ÷ 100)
Total Fees = p × Turnover + Σ(Flat Fees per leg)
-
Net Realized:
Gross Realized − Total Fees
-
Optional Unrealized (if Qo & Current Price C):
Gross Unrealized = (C − AVC) × Qo
Est. Exit Fees = p × [(AVC + C) × Qo] + Flat_exit
Net Unrealized = Gross Unrealized − Est. Exit Fees
-
Total Net P/L:
Net Realized + Net Unrealized
Uses average cost for simplicity. If you prefer FIFO/LIFO, the realized result will differ.
Example (USD)
- B = 60×100 + 40×120 = $10,800, S = 50×130 + 30×110 = $9,800
- Qb = 100, Qs = 80, Qo = 20, AVC = 10,800 ÷ 100 = $108.00
- Gross Realized = 9,800 − (108 × 80) = 9,800 − 8,640 = $1,160.00
-
Turnover = B + S = 10,800 + 9,800 = 20,600
% Fees = 0.20% × 20,600 = $41.20
Flat Fees = 4 × $2 = $8.00
Total Fees = 41.20 + 8.00 = $49.20 - Net Realized = 1,160.00 − 49.20 = $1,110.80
-
Optional Unrealized (Current = $125):
Gross = (125 − 108) × 20 = $340.00
Est. Exit Fees = 0.20% × [(108 + 125) × 20] + $2 ≈ 0.002 × 4,660 + 2 = $11.32
Net Unrealized = 340.00 − 11.32 = $328.68 - Total Net (incl. unrealized) = 1,110.80 + 328.68 = $1,439.48
How to Use This Calculator
- Add each trade leg with side (Buy/Sell), price, and quantity.
- Enter Fees % (on turnover) and Flat Fee per leg.
- See Net Realized P/L. Optionally add current price to see unrealized and total.
- Switch fee model or try FIFO/LIFO in advanced settings if you support them.
Tips for Multi Leg Trades
- Stay consistent: pick Average Cost, FIFO, or LIFO and stick to it.
- Count all legs: include partial exits and entries; fees add up fast.
- Flat fees matter: small sells can be fee heavy.
- Journal: track fills, slippage, and fee structure per venue.
